Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Hoisington, KS, but my family moved to Emporia, KS when I was 2 years old. I really enjoyed the support and community throughout Emporia as I grew up. My parents still live there, and it is fun to go back to visit, especially when my three siblings are in town!

Go Wildcats!

We heard you are a Kansas State Wildcat, too?

Yes! Both my parents went to K-State, and we were raised as avid Wildcat fans. When it came time to choose a college, the choice was easy. I got my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a minor in Business from K-State. My family all loves to go back to Manhattan for football games and we wear our purple with pride!

How did you find your way to the Kansas City area?

Once I decided to pursue a career in dentistry, UMKC was the first school I looked at. I was accepted to the DDS program there and decided to attend due to the excellent education and proximity to my family. During my first year of dental school, I met my now fiancée, Annie, who was born and raised in KC. We decided this was where we wanted to stay, and we are excited to start and raise our family in this wonderful community.

Why did you decide to become a dentist?

My hometown dentist fixed my front teeth when I was in high school and gave me a smile I could be proud of. I was amazed at the impact that experience had on my confidence — he was able to fix something I was self-conscious about with one dental visit. After that, I began exploring the field of dentistry and loved the way it combines healthcare, art, and fostering relationships.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy watching and playing sports of any kind, but especially cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, and Wildcats. Annie and I love to take our chocolate lab, Reese, on long walks and to find places for her to swim. I also enjoy traveling to new places and reading a good book. Also, I am working very hard to improve my golf game, but am learning that is easier said than done!

What excites you the most about joining Cope Dentistry?

I am most excited to join a team that has so much experience and passion for dentistry. Dentistry is a field of lifelong learning, and it is comforting to know that I am working with doctors and staff who are knowledgeable and confident in providing excellent patient care.

What are you looking forward to most in your career?

As I have spent some time in the office, I have been amazed at how well everyone knows their patients. I am really looking forward to getting to meet and help so many people over my career.
